On 6 September 2026, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, travelled to Nuuk, Greenland.
During her visit, she met with Jens-Frederik Nielsen, Greenlandic Prime Minister, and Mette Frederiksen, Danish Prime Minister. Afterwards, they held a joint doorstep interview during which Ursula von der Leyen emphasised the EU’s long-standing partnership with Greenland, as well as their shared values and ties. She also noted that a package had been developed to strengthen the relationship in the years to come.
