On 7 September 2026, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, travelled to Nuuk, Greenland.
During her visit, she met with Beinir Johannesen, Faroese Prime Minister, and Mette Frederiksen, Danish Prime Minister. Together, they discussed ways to strengthen the cooperation between the EU and the Faroe Islands in areas such as trade, foreign policy, education, and research.
