On 1 September 2025, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, accompanied by Andrius Kubilius, European Commissioner for Defence and Space, travelled to Medininkai, Lithuania where she had a meeting with Gitanas Nausėda, President of Lithuania.

During their meeting, the leaders discussed the protection of the European Union’s Eastern frontier and support for Ukraine.
