On 21 April 2026, Koen Lenaerts, President of the Court of Justice of the European Union, delivered at the Court of Justice of the EU in Luxembourg, the General Court ruled in the case 155/24 ‘Nederlandse Voedsel – en Warenautoriteit and Others’. 

This case deals with the use of non-public ISO standards for measuring cigarette emissions under EU tobacco regulations. In order to be legally enforceable, such standards must be accessible to individuals.
