This video stockshot provides illustration footage of the production and use of tops and lids made of paper by start-up company Blue Ocean closures in Värmland, Sweden.
The start-up specializes in fiber-based closures made from cellulose fibers, which are biobased, renewable, and recyclable as paper. Its mission is to reduce plastic waste and carbon emissions while providing sustainable packaging solutions for global brands. By using cellulose fibers from sustainably managed forests, the company ensures that its products are biodegradable and part of the natural carbon cycle. Their product won the Commercialized Recyclable Packaging category at the Sustainability Awards 2025. This stockshot is part of a series aimed at showing examples of the EU bioeconomy sector. The Commission proposed an EU Bioeconomy Strategy in 2025, which aims to build a clean, competitive and resilient European economy. The bioeconomy offers Europe a chance to strengthen its strategic autonomy, replace fossil-based materials, create jobs, and lead the global shift to clean industries.
