On 21 November 2025, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, went in Johannesburg, South Africa to participate in the G20 Summit.
The summit organised under the theme 'solidarity, equality and sustainability' focused on an inclusive and sustainable economic growth (debt sustainability, taxation, international financial architecture and trade), climate and disaster resilience (disaster risk reduction, the just energy transition, food security and climate change), a fair and just future for all (critical minerals, artificial intelligence and reducing inequality), and multilateralism and international affairs.
Prior to the summit, Ursula von der Leyen met with Keir Starmer, British Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, Australian Prime Minister, and António Costa, President of the European Council.
