On 22 November 2025 in the margins of the G20 Summit, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, Mark Carney, Canadian Prime Minister, and Phạm Minh Chính, Vietnamese Prime Minister, attended a high-level meeting focused on trade cooperation and the CPTPP (Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership).
During the meeting, the Leaders discussed strengthening trade, investment, and connectivity between the EU and CPTPP members. They welcomed the establishment of the CPTPP-EU Trade and Investment Dialogue, aimed at deepening economic links between the two major trade blocs and reinforcing a rules-based global trade system. They highlighted the potential for greater cooperation amid global economic uncertainties, with enhanced trade, investment facilitation, digital trade, and critical minerals cooperation on the agenda.
