On 24 September 2025 in the margins of the United Nations General Assembly, Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, and Hadja Lahbib, European Commissioner for Preparedness and Crisis Management, and Commissioner for Equality, attended the event tiled “Joint efforts for de-escalation in Sudan meeting” held in New York, United States.

Participants urged Sudan’s warring parties to resume direct talks toward a ceasefire and respect the Jeddah Declaration. They called for protection of civilians, humanitarian access, and the extension of border crossings for aid.
