Olli Rehn, born in 1962 in the East of Finland, is a doctor of Philosophy. His political career began in 1988 when he became Deputy Chairman of the Centre Party of Finland. Since then, he has been a Member of Parliament (1991-95), and has held a variety of posts including Economic Adviser to the Finnish Prime Minister (2003-04). From 1998-2002, he worked as Head of Cabinet for Erkki Liikkanen, Member of the EC. Since mid-2004, he has been a Member of the EC in charge of Enterprise and Information Society.
