From 15 to 19 February 1999, Felipe de Bourbon, Prince of Asturias, visited the European institutions. At the EC, he met Jacques Santer, President of the EC; Manuel Marín, Vice-President of the EC in charge of External Relations with Southern Mediterranean Countries, the Middle East, Latin America and Asia (except Japan, China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) including Development Aid; and Marcelino Oreja, Member of the EC in charge of Relations with the European Parliament, Relations with the Members States (Transparency, Communication and Information), Culture and Audiovisual Policy, the Office for Official Publications, Institutional Matters and Preparations for the 1996 Intergovernmental Conference (in agreement with the President).
