Jacek protests report on cohesion policy in the EU eastern border regions.

The rapporteur gets the floor for 2 minutes now. Yes, President, dear colleagues.

I don't think we can talk about,

say that the eastern border is a strategic priority and then agree to the weakening of the economies in that area.

War in Ukraine, hybrid war, the loss of some of our markets,

the reality that the citizens in these regions live with every day.

During the case during the course of this mandate, we've urged Europe to Focus on these issues and respond to these problems,

and that is what lies behind the report that I'm presenting today.

I'd like to thank all shadow rapporteurs because we had very difficult political negotiations,

but we've come up with compromise which means that the report has broad support.

Together we're asking the Commission to take account of our various ideas and reflect this in the European Union's budget.

We've managed to come up with an agreement across party lines, and we want to have a further guarantee of funds for the eastern regions from 2028 to 2034,

but not at the cost of existing cohesion policies, so we want support for that.

We would also like to have a more reasonable principle of co-financing,

more flexible public support, and easier rules for businesses, obviously.

We have a communication on these regions we've sent to the Commission, but that's not, you know, we know the Commission has put forward a strategy.

The European Parliament has come up with solutions, so now we're waiting for action. So please support this report. Thank you very much.
