We have been, waiting with anticipation for, some, measures from the Commission seeking to address the,

the, export of, aluminum scrap, on the 23rd of September. Now, Commissioner or Vice President Sejone's cabinet.

Said in a statement to Reuters that it's no longer going to be export restrictions only for aluminum,

but it's also going to be in general an export ban on waste to non-OECD countries.

Can you elaborate on why this expansion to waste as a broader category? Why the choice of non-OECD countries?

And whether you believe that this will be sufficient to, to address the,

the needs of of the aluminum industry in Europe. Thank you for your question, Philip.

So this would fall somewhere between Anna-Kaisa and I, but I can certainly say that from the, from the trade perspective, you are correct.

We have put on hold the proposal for a trade measure on aluminum scrap. So the overall policy objective.

Always has been and remains to ensure that smelters and recycled aluminum producers in the European Union retain sufficient affordable access to an essential feedstock and thereby contribute to a secure,

sustainable, and diversified supply of critical raw materials,

so the internal deliberation.

The Commission has concluded that this policy policy objective can be met through the export restrictions introduced for environmental reasons under the waste shipment regulation and that's due to come into force in May 2027.

I would just finally recall that this sector plays an important role for the competitiveness of the European economy,

but also for the green transition.

So from the trade perspective, we will continue to closely monitor the trade flows of aluminum waste and scrap.

And look at whatever other steps might need to be taken,

Yeah, I'm wondering just particularly on the choice of non-OECD countries,

given that a lot of the major importers of, aluminum in the world are within the OECD.

The industry is already saying that this, these measures might not be enough to,

to stave off the, the, disappearing flows of, of aluminum scrap.

Do you have a comment on particularly that element?

Well, look, as I said, we've made the assessment that the,

policy objective we're, we're trying to achieve here can be.

Met through the waste shipment regulation, but you also heard me say that we will look at trade flows very closely to understand the parameters of the challenge and if additional steps are needed,
