The important thing to clarify also following yesterday's technical briefing that we had on this is to explain that there's a lot of focus that is on the permanent EU fleet which is the 22 + 5. So this is really just one.

Additional reserve that we have,

how the civil protection mechanism works is to pool the capacities of 37 countries that are taking part.

Which means that the actual pool of aircraft, etc.

Is much wider, much bigger than the 22 + 7, which is the EU, which is the permanent res EU fleet.

So this is just to clarify that we are really talking about we are nowhere near from exhausting the overall capacities of our civil protection mechanism and the capacities that we potentially have available through the mechanism.

So this is an important detail to understand that when we talk about the EU's civil protection mechanism.

The rescu EU fleet of the 22 planes and the 5 helicopters is just one additional part to the work that we do constantly in coordinating the aid from other member states.

So it's basically pulling off of capacities of all the 37 countries that are participating.

We do these matchings based on the requests that come from the Member States, who first have to define to us what is it that they need,

and we will then make sure that there is a match for this request. So now to the latest.

So I will first explain or list the support to France.

First, the following are from the ResC EU fleet. Two air tractors that are from Portugal. One Black Hawk helicopter from Slovakia. One Black Hawk helicopter from Czechia. One Canada Airplane. And two scooping planes from Sweden.

I do not know what a scooping plane is, but that's what it's called.

These are from the Res EU fleet,

and the following is additional from the Civil Protection Mechanism.

So there's one advanced technical team from Sweden. One Commission liaison officer.

Two helicopters from Germany, which are still to be confirmed,

but they have already announced that they would be doing this, and 2 air tractor planes from Turk.

So this is the situation via the Civil Protection Mechanism at the moment to France. I will now move to Spain.

The following are from the rescu EU fleet 2 Canada airplanes from Greece. To Canadair planes from Italy.

The following is via the Civil Protection Mechanism, not from the Rescu EU fleet. 2 air tractor airplanes from Turkey.

Three ground forest firefighting teams with vehicles in total 134 people plus 41 vehicles and they come from Portugal.

And then we are expecting one ground team from Serbia to be deployed as well.

So this is where we are at the moment,

and again it is important to clarify that no country can maintain alone all the resources that are needed to tackle every possible natural or other disaster and crisis.

This is where This is where the strength of the European system comes into play because we are pooling the resources and we are pooling the resources beyond the 27 member states. We have 37 countries participating. In our crisis civil protection mechanism.

This is an important point because there has been so much focus on our on our permanent fleet.

very close contact all the time and depending on the situation we will be able to match these requests with equipment.

but I think that it's member states involved that have a clearer understanding of the situation on the ground and a clear understanding of what are the facilities,

the people, the airplanes, helicopters, vehicles that they have at their disposal.

We're here to support in a very strong solidarity European spirit,

but of course we are not the ones who really know best the needs of the member states involved.

They are the ones who know exactly what they need where and we just want to be there to help and support,

together with the other member states, together with the other countries that are participating in the mechanism.

And this is where we can chip in if there's a need, but you know,

in some situations maybe there is no need or strategically, with their own resources they have sufficient support, etc.

So this is why we reply to requests when they come and together with the other countries in the mechanism we try to answer in the best way possible with this European solidarity in mind.
