On 18 September 1999, the new College of the European Commission held its first official meeting, in Brussels. On the agenda: the formal adoption of papers examined unofficially at the meetings of 17 July and 27 August 1999, concerneing the code of conduct for Commissioners, the code of conduct relating to their cabinets and services, the Commission's internal regulation, the creation of "groups of Members of the EC", and the procedure for appointing Grade A1 and A2 officials. The College also confirmed the distribution of portfolios between Members of the EC and discussed the new administrative structure of its services: reduction and restructuring of directorates General, new press service,...
