First on the train, attack,

we strongly condemn the latest Russian strikes near the Ukraine-Poland border.

Including the attack against the passenger train last week, as you know,

the EU approved and we discussed it here 6.1 billion to support Ukraine's air and missile defense.

So we are acting on that front to equip Ukraine better, to defend itself,

and we will continue to stand firmly with Ukraine and its right to defend itself against Russian aggression.

Let me also give you a couple of lines from what the HRVP Kaja Kallas said this morning in the context of the European Arctic summit, concretely on this topic,

and I quote, I think that it is clearly meant to scare Western countries from supporting Ukraine, from going to Ukraine to show support.

It was clearly a message to the Western world.

The question for us is what do we take from that message? I think we should act the opposite.

We should show that we are there for Ukraine and we are not scared of. Thank you, Christian.

This attack happened just 2 kilometers from the Polish border and the Polish Prime Minister organized a special.

Security Council meeting yesterday and he said that we should be prepared for a direct threat to our territory.

These words of Prime Minister Tusk we could see on many European media last night.

I mean the fact that this is happening 2 kilometers from the Polish border, what does the Commission say to that? I mean the threat is directly.

The threat is directly going on the Polish people.

Yes, of course we are following all these events very, very closely,

and again I would like to point to what the High Representative Vice President said.

I think that was clearly a response to that, that this was meant to scare Western countries from supporting Ukraine,

so we have this clearly on the radar what is behind such attacks,

and we will not go in that direction. We will continue.

To stand by Ukraine and also of course to continue with our efforts on defense for Europe you know all the programs we have put forward including the SAFE program,

including the more flexibility and the Stability and Growth Pact,

working intensively with our member states to ensure that Europe is ready to defend itself.

So like you said, we need to support Ukraine, but can we have some reassurance for the Polish people, for the members of the European Union.
