ANNOUNCEMENT - Today’s councils
ANNOUNCEMENT - EU, Ukraine, Canada and partners join efforts to return forcibly transferred and unlawfully deported Ukrainian children
And now I'd like to continue in French.
As you know, Today, there are various Council meetings that are taking place.
First of all, we have the Foreign Affairs ministers meeting in Brussels.
The High Representative Kaja Kallas, will be presiding over the meeting.
And the Commission is represented there as well.
Before the meeting, ministers participated in an informal breakfast with their counterparts from six Balkan,
Western Balkan countries. On the agenda.
Russian aggression against Ukraine and virtual exchange with the Foreign Affairs minister from Ukraine,
Andrii Sybiha.
The ministers will continue with the discussion on the Middle East in the light of the most recent developments,
i.e., the war in Iran and its repercussions on The region writ large.
Then after lunch, there will be an informal exchange with the Canadian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Anita Anand,
and then the High Representative will preside the first high-level dialogue between the European Union and Syria.
The commissioners Šuica and Lahbib will also,
participate in the meeting and the, foreign ministers are invited.
The aim is to look at the best ways to support the transition in Syria.
And so, as always,
I invite you to reserve any questions you may have with regard to foreign affairs for the press conference that will follow the Council meeting that's about at 1600 hours and that will involve Representative Kallas.
I'd also like to Remind you also that the High Representative Kallas and Commissioner Koss and it will be there for the Commission and then you have the ministers from Canada and will also be on hand for the meeting with regard to the coalition to,
so, Ukraine and Canada will be discussing the repatriation of children. This is at 1700 hours.
This is an initiative from President von der Leyen.
She announced this during her State of the Union address last year,
and so this is a subject by which she sets great store.
But that's not all As regards, ministerial meetings today, the, Education, Youth Culture and Sport, Council will be taking place across the street today,
and this time it's, Commissioner Micallef and Vice President, executive,
vice president Mînzatu that will be representing the Commission.
The ministers will discuss, the Erasmus Plus regulation.
As well as the outcome of the EU dialogue in favor of youth.
And then during an informal working lunch,
there will be an exchange on the best way to create education systems and training systems that are resilient in times of crisis.
EVP Mînzatu will be participating in a press conference around 1800 hours.
Today, it was impossible to have a staggering of the different press conferences,
but we would ask you to please reserve your questions for that press conference.
And then finally, the European affairs ministers are also in a meeting today,
this time in Nicosia for an informal and it's commissioner Serafín who will represent the Commission during that meeting.
The discussions will deal with the next MFF, Multiannual Financial framework,
as well as enlargement of the European Union.
There also,
there will be a press conference with Commissioner Serafín that is slated to take place around 14:15 according to the latest information that I have and that's Brussels time.
