On 14 March 2024, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, travelled in Tórshavn, the Faroe Islands, where she met Aksel Vilhelmson Johannesen, Faroese Prime Minister.
This visit was the occasion for the two officials to sign a declaration on enhanced co-operation between the EU and the Faroe Islands.
