On 20 April 2023, Nicolas Schmit, European Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights, attended a plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France, on EU Action Plan against Trafficking in Cultural Goods.
As part of the EU strategy on organised crime, the Commission is developing an action plan against trafficking in cultural goods for 2022-25, to disrupt criminal activities and protect cultural heritage.
The action plan’s overall aim is to raise awareness; to improve information exchange and cooperation (including with non-EU countries); and to strengthen capacity building and expertise.
