On 30 June 2019, Cecilia Malmström, Member of the EC in charge of Trade, participated in the signature ceremony of the EU-Vietnam trade and investment agreements, in Hanoi, Vietnam. 

The agreements aim at bringing benefits for European and Vietnamese companies, consumers and workers, while promoting respect for labor rights, environmental protection and the fight against climate change under the Paris Agreement.
