The Single European Sky is an initiative to reform the architecture of the European Air traffic control.
Thales is a core player in SESAR (Single European Sky ATM Research), the technological arm of the Single European Sky initiative and provides input for technological questions.
Airbus as an engine manufacturer is a key player when it comes to define thresholds of ash concentration in the air.
The volcanic ash crisis has shown that there is a need for an overhaul of the European air traffic control and it has led to a higher acceptance for political changes and reforms among political leaders in Europe.
