State of the Union Address 2016 by Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the EC
Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the EC, delivered State of the Union Address 2016 "Towards a Better Europe – A Europe that Protects, Empowers and Defends" at the plenary session of the EP in Strasbourg, chaired by Martin Schulz, President of the EP. In his speech, Jean-Claude Juncker outlined how the Commission will address the most pressing challenges the European Union is facing.The following key points were addressed: creating jobs, combating youth unemployment and investing in sustainable growth; responding to the refugee crisis and migration; building a low-carbon economy and tackling climate change; and fighting radicalisation and terrorism.The speech was followed by a plenary debate.
