Participation of Siim Kallas, Vice-President of the EC, at the TEN-T days in Tallinn

Siim Kallas, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Transport, went to Tallin to participate in the TEN-T days, which was organised from 16 to 18 October 2013. The annual event brought together transport and infrastructure experts around Europe.The publication of the new maps showing the 9 major infrastructure corridors was the main event of the TEN-T days. The corridors will underpin the EU's Single Market, and revolutionise East-West Connections. The EU is investing €26 billion for co-funding transport projects to build cross-border missing links, remove bottlenecks and make the network smarter. More than 1,000 people – including more than 18 Transport Ministers, Members of the European Parliament, CEOs and stakeholders from all the transport sectors - converged on Tallinn for expert discussions on implementing the new transport policy framework.In this context, Siim Kallas went to the Central Station of Tallinn where a Vilnius-Riga-Tallinn train was chartered for the TEN-T days. He then went on board the Finnish icebreaker Kontio, in which he announced the decisions on EU grant allocations to projects in the areas of waterborne transport and of technological innovation.
