On 29 April 2026, Henna Virkkunen, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Tech Sovereignty, Security and Democracy, presented the new European digital age verification solution in Strasbourg, France. She stated that this tool aims to strengthen the protection of minors online, whilst ensuring user privacy and secure access to digital services. Member States will be able to adapt and roll out this solution to better prevent children from accessing inappropriate content. This initiative forms part of the Digital Services Act and European measures to protect children online.
