On 27 October 2026, Teresa Ribera, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for a Clean, Just and Competitive Transition, and Wopke Hoekstra, European Commissioner for Climate, Net Zero and Clean Growth, took part in the press conference following the weekly meeting of the von der Leyen Commission on the EU framework for climate resilience in Brussels, Belgium. They presented the EU Framework for Climate Resilience, which focused on strengthening Europe's ability to anticipate, prepare for and manage climate risks. It was designed as a strategic investment in Europe's competitiveness, security, health and prosperity, and responded to the growing impacts of climate change across Europe in recent years, ranging from prolonged heatwaves to floods. The framework proposed a systemic shift in climate resilience across Europe by supporting local and regional authorities through pilot projects and advisory services.
