On 7 October 2026, Andrius Kubilius, European Commissioner for Defence and Space, travelled to Hamburg, Germany, where he met port representatives and delivered a speech at the Military Schengen 2026 Conference. During his speech, Andrius Kubilius focused on military mobility and the defence strategy in response to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. He highlighted the importance of unity in defence and cooperation with NATO. During the port visit Andrius Kubilius took part in a guided tour of the harbour.
