How is Europe becoming a leader in AI?

Show transcript

The EU is becoming

an AI continent. Why?

Because AI is the future

driving growth,

innovation

and shaping

every digital technology

across all industries.

There's

a large percentage

of the economy

there will be based

and influenced

by artificial

intelligence.

And if we're not able

to produce

the artificial

intelligence

we consume in Europe,

we are going to be

severely behind

on how we transfer

that technology

into value

to everyone in Europe.

Here are five key things

you need to know

about the

AI continent Action Plan.

The next level

innovation hubs:

AI factories.

Think of AI factories

as creative hubs

where brilliant minds

join forces to develop

cutting edge AI tools.

It's all about

speed, innovation

and staying ahead

in the global tech race.

These AI factories unite

the three essentials

for breakthrough tech

massive computing power,

abundant data

and top tier talent.

By 2026,

There will be 13

AI factories

up and running.

One thing

which is very hard

to secure

is computing time.

It's very expensive

and it's hard

to get access to this.

So the notion

of creating

AI factories in Europe

is a very good idea

to mutualise

those resources.

It's the idea

to leverage

already

existing resources

in the countries

and upgrading them

to create

an infrastructure

that enables

much more rapid

development of AI.

Data. Good quality data.

High quality data

is essential.

The success of any

AI technology,

depends on how much data

its models

can learn from.

But with big data comes

big responsibility.

So the goal is

to triple EU

data center capacity

in the next

5 to 7 years.

Prioritising

sustainability.

This is the topic

of frugal

AI: Being

able to have access

to artificial

intelligence

without having

to use the huge

amount of resources.

Being able to run models

that are very efficient

on small servers.

Also,

with a minimum,

energy consumption.

AI for all.

These new

AI hubs will connect

universities,

startups, policymakers

and industry leaders

speeding up idea

sharing and helping

everyone benefit

from the latest

breakthroughs.

Imagine a startup

in Brussels

collaborating

with the supercomputer

in Barcelona.

Pretty cool right?

Plus, these hubs

give AI innovators

the chance to develop

their ideas across

different domains.

We can have a large

language model

that can, monitor

different data sources,

that can look

into these

different platforms

and raise

some kind of alarm,

to humans,

that there is high

likelihood

of disinformation.

It's about people,

not just tech.

AI innovation

isn't just

about creating cool

tools.

It's about responsible

development.

This means fairness,

transparency,

safety, sustainability,

and ensuring

this technology

benefits everyone,

not just a

few industries.

Europe's AI

ecosystem will attract

skilled professionals

from around the world,

welcoming top talent

to join

this exciting journey.

AI is

helping in

human enhancement,

by providing,

for example,

the capacity

to clone a voice

when people have lost

it, unfortunately.

Now, with

just 15 seconds,

you can basically clone

your voice back.

Coming sooner

than you think.

The EU plans

to launch the first

AI factory this year.

And it's part

of a much bigger vision

to make Europe

the global hub

for responsible,

cutting edge AI.

The plan is also

to bring

AI gigafactories

to life.

AI Gigafactories

will be like

AI factories, but bigger.

For bigger

LLms

supercomputing power

and at some point

even involving

quantum technology.

Industries will be able

to collaborate

and federate their data.

We are creating safe space

for them,

because yes,

AI needs competition,

but AI also

needs collaboration,

and AI needs

the confidence

of the people

and has to be safe.

So what do you think?

Can Europe become the

AI continent?

your life.
