Are you concerned about climate change?
Then you absolutely need to know about Industrial Carbon Management,
because it’s one of the technologies that will help the European Union
to become the first carbon-neutral continent by 2050,
while ensuring that our industries and economy
remain competitive in the global market.
But what is it?
Industrial Carbon Management is a safe solution to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions
into the atmosphere,
from industrial and energy production facilities
that are difficult to decarbonise.
It’s also a way to remove carbon dioxide already present in the atmosphere.
There are several sources of carbon dioxide that need to be captured:
Emissions from industrial processes,
from fossil fuels,
and from biogenic sources,
such as wood byproducts or crop residues.
These emissions are directly captured
from the chimneys of factories and power plants,
and part of the carbon dioxide already present in the atmosphere
is extracted by giant carbon-sucking fans.
When the captured carbon dioxide is not used directly on site,
it is transported by pipeline,
ship, road, or rail
to safe and permanent underground storage sites,
onshore or offshore,
or to production sites to be used as a feedstock,
for example, for construction products, synthetic fuels, plastics,
or other useful chemicals.
This is a process of constant improvement through cooperation.
To help it succeed, all EU countries need to be on board.
Better carbon management,
complementing priorities,
such as energy efficiency and renewable energy,
will contribute to achieving climate neutrality,
for you,
for the EU,
and for the planet.
