A greener European Union can secure our future prosperity.
5 million people already work in the green sector
and through the European Green Deal, we want this to rise even further.
a more circular EU economy will bring about a wealth
of opportunities for business and people alike.
This could see GDP increase by as much as 7% by 2030,
as we move towards a future where reuse and recycle are the norm.
Nature is also key.
Businesses depend on the services it provides,
whether it's water purification or crop pollination.
Nature is worth billions of euros per year.
And we can save more by further reducing pollution levels.
Pollution damages our health, costing hundreds of billions
in health care charges and lost productivity.
But to do this, we need European businesses to be more innovative
and more competitive.
This will take more investment and more sustainable finance.
That's why the EU has pledged to mobilise at least €1 trillion
in sustainable investments by 2030,
funding green technologies to kick start private investment.
These green technologies
will help cut bills and reduce the cost of living for everyone.
By staying at the forefront of innovation, we can generate future-proof jobs
for Europeans in many sectors, from AI and digital to manufacturing
and modern farming.
