European Green Deal: reducing emissions from the aviation sector
Civil aviation accounts for 13% of total CO2 emissions from EU transport. The new ReFuelEU Aviation legislation aims to introduce sustainable aviation fuel as part of the “Fit for 55 package”, the EU’s strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels. Other initiatives on greening the aviation sector are ongoing in parallel, such as the Alliance for Zero-emission Aviation, which aims to prepare for introducing hydrogen and electric aircrafts. This video stockshot provides illustration examples of some of these initiatives by European companies.
