Europe's future prosperity depends on its most valuable asset: people. In a fast-changing global economy, people's skills will be a motor for competitiveness and growth in Europe. Yet, about 70 million Europeans struggle to read and write. Even more have poor numeracy and digital proficiency. At the same time, 40% of European employers cannot find people with the right skills. The New Skills Agenda for Europe, adopted by the European Commission, will help improve the quality, relevance and recognition of people's skills and make the most of Europe’s human capital, which will ultimately boost employability, competitiveness and growth in Europe. To illustrate the new Skills Agenda, the Audiovisual Service of the European Commission has produced a new video stockshot with footage on secondary education and universities, vocational training and apprenticeships, projects funded by the European Social Fund, Europass, and skills for the green economy.
