On 13 May 2014, José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, and several Members of the College of the EC received the visit of Arseniy Yatsenyuk, acting Ukrainian Prime Minister, accompanied by a few Members of his Government. On this occasion, José Manuel Barroso and Arseni Iatseniouk gave a press joint press briefing on the discussions they had during their meeting, namely on the European Commission's determination to help Ukraine, and to make sure that Ukraine has all the support it needs, in the short-and long-term, to undertake the political and economic reforms that are necessary for the country, with the common objective of a democratic, independent and prosperous Ukraine.
