Message by José Manuel Barroso on the introduction of the Euro in Latvia
On 16 December 2013, José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, recorded a message on the introduction of the Euro in Latvia.
Latvia adopted the euro on 1 January 2014, the same day that the 15th anniversary of the launch of the euro in 1999. So 18 Member States and 333 million Europeans share the same currency. This is a major achievement for Latvia and for the euro area as a whole.
