On 27 October 2026, Teresa Ribera, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for a Clean, Just and Competitive Transition, and Wopke Hoekstra, European Commissioner for Climate, Net Zero and Clean Growth, held a joint press conference in Brussels, Belgium, to address the new EU Framework for Climate Resilience.
The framework aimed to strengthen Europe’s ability to anticipate, prepare for, and manage climate risks. The prolonged heatwaves, droughts, and wildfires of this summer have had serious consequences for citizens, businesses, and infrastructure. Therefore, building climate resilience was a strategic investment in Europe’s security, health, prosperity and competitiveness.
