This annual event is part of the EU’s celebrations surrounding Europe Day on 9 May, when the EU commemorates the Schuman Declaration of 1950. The European institutions opened their doors to citizens, for them to discover how these institutions are affecting their lives, by taking part in special activities, such as public debates and guided tours.
This year, Europe Day also brings cause for special celebration: we mark 40 years since Spain and Portugal joined the EU, as well as 40 years of Europe Day celebrations.
