On 9 March 2021, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, and Frans Timmermans, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of the European Green Deal, and Commissioner for Climate Action Policy, received John Kerry, US Special Envoy for Climate, to discuss the preparation of the COP26 UN climate conference.John Kerry also met with Josep Borrell Fontelles, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of a stronger Europe in the World, and participated to the weekly meeting of the College of Commissioners.
